Mooresville is a town in Iredell County, North Carolina, U.S.A. The population was 18,823 at the 2000 census. It is located approximately 25 minutes north of Charlotte. Mooresville is the home to Lowe's Home Improvement, and is perhaps best known as the home of dozens of NASCAR racing teams, which earned the city the nickname "Race City USA." NASCAR Technical Institute is also located here. The current Mayor of Mooresville is -Bill Thunburg. He was elected in the fall of 2005.
