Body Shop Technician Job Description -
Position Summary:
The Body Shop Technician is responsible for repairing and restoring damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition. This role involves performing structural and cosmetic repairs while ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Repair vehicle body damage including dents, panels, frames, and structural components
- Perform welding, sanding, grinding, and metal finishing work as needed
- Replace damaged vehicle parts and components
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicles for repair processes
- Operate body shop equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Review repair orders and assess vehicle damage accurately
- Maintain quality standards and ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications
- Work closely with estimators, painters, and other technicians to complete repairs on schedule
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
- Document repairs and communicate repair progress with management
Qualifications
- Previous body shop or collision repair experience preferred
- Knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques, tools, and equipment
- Welding and frame repair experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders and technical manuals
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and repair equipment safely
